Ludmila Smrčková is a renowned Czech glass designer. In her life she received a number of awards, such as gold medals at the exhibitions in Brussels (1935) and Paris (1937). In Czechoslovakia she was honoured with the titles Artist of Outstanding Merit and National artist, and in 1984 with the Antonín Zápotocký Award. She co-operated, e.g., with Moser Co, with Nižbor’s Rückl, Inwald’s glassworks. Her work is typified by effective, simple shapes, the beauty of the outlines and well balanced proportions.
