Dvorský Bohumír 1902–1976
Bouquet
oil on canvas, frame, 65,5 × 55,5 cm, signed. PD Boh. Dvorský
Bohumír Dvorský is one of the most prominent personalities who
depicted the Czech landscape, at the same time he also painted still life paintings extensively
and flowers. In his work he was influenced by Julius Mařák and Paul
Cézanne. Dvorský's colour palette, which initially consisted of
cold tones, changed under the influence of the landscape of South Moravia, where
he retreated to Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc during the war, to a palette of warm tones
to exultant yellows and reds. He is described as a painter of light
and optimism. He remained faithful to his artistic programme throughout his
creative life.
