Vlastislav Hofman was a versatile artist and architect,
urban planner, industrial designer, interior designer, painter, graphic artist,
scenographer, also a theoretician and critic of architecture and applied arts.
As an architect he designed, for example, the Jirásek and Štefánik bridges in Prague.
As a scenographer he created over 400 sets for the National Theatre
in Prague and the Vinohrady Theatre. From 1918 he was a painter and
Čapek, Špála, Zrzavy and Marvánek, he was a member of the Tvrdošíjní group.
As an industrial artist, he collaborated with the Artěl cooperative, for which
he produced works in glass, metal and ceramics. In 1911 he participated in
preparations for the founding of a generational avant-garde group, at whose founding meeting
