Jiří Černický is one of the most prominent representatives of the generation that who entered the art scene in the 1990s and who coping with the changes in post-Soviet society. In his work, the in his work is a contemporary assessment of the postmodern turn, the return of the concept of and intermedia approaches as well as the possibility of new Černický deals with the field of performance, staged or conceptualized photography, installations and videos, as well as drawing and painting, the form of which goes beyond the classical hanging picture. The various media, among which the artist deliberately chooses arbitrarily, are a means of uncovering social taboos and political themes, but at the same time a play with traditional symbols that overlap today, layered and rewritten against their traditional meaning. J. Černický graduated from the University of Applied Sciences in 1990-1993 Arts and Crafts in Prague in the studio of Adela Matasová and in the years 1993-1997 Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Miloš Šejn and Jiří David. In 1998 he was awarded the Jindřich Chalupecký Prize. He worked for many years as the head of the painting studio at the Academy of Fine Arts. 2016, a large solo exhibition entitled Wild Dreams was held in the gallery Rudolfinum.
