Professionally restored. French painter who made a significant impact on the Czech environment.
The initiator of the friendship was a Moravian
publisher Josef Florian with his famous publishing activity of Good Works. In his publishing house he promoted the painter's work even before the First World War. Rouault sent over 100 letters to Florian over the course of fifteen years,
verses and many of his prints and originals.
In 1917, Rouault was discovered by a prominent
gallerist Ambroise Vollard, bought his entire oeuvre (770 paintings) and employed him as an illustrator for his bibliophile editions.
