Le Corbusier, Jeanneret Pierre, Perriand Charlotte
Armchair LC1
Central Europe, the 1920s, design by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand in 1928, chrome-plated steel, leather, steel springs, height 57 cm, width 63.5 cm, depth 63.5 cm
The Basculant-type armchair is a looped armchair with a polished chrome-plated (CR3), or semi-shiny, black enamelled frame from trivalent steel. This light and compact armchair contrasts with the Grand Confort line, which is more massive, and is therefore in perfect balance with the used plate in a steel tube and the lounger itself. There are three versions of this chair, designed for different purposes: the model presented at the Salon d’Automne in 1929, a version created for Villa Church in 1928, and the other versions made for the exhibition in 1930 at the Union des Artistes Modernes.
