Kazimir Severinovich Malevich was a painter, art theoretician and pioneer of geometric abstract art. He studied drawing in Kiev and at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture. He is a co-originator of constructivism and the originator of the Avant-garde Suprematist movement. He was searching for something which is not present in nature –a square shape. Since 1913 he started to absorb the cubist principles and began using abstract geometric shapes in his work. In 1915 he published his manifesto From Cubism to Suprematism. Suprematism is an art movement focused on fundamental geometric forms (in particular the square and circle); it does not depict objects but pure feelings. Later on, he moved from polychrome to monochrome Suprematism. In 1923 he designed for Lomonosov Porcelain Factory a three-piece tea set, which was compared to rushing locomotive. This tea set was initially produced only in six copies and soon became icon of the Russian Avant-garde art.
