Jiří Urban (*1954) is mainly renowned as the author of replicas of the St Wenceslas Crown, the imperial crown of the Holy Roman Empire and the Parléř monstrance from Sedlec near Kutná Hora. The masterly workmanship of his works brought him to other important projects, such as the design and implementation of a cross for Pope John Paul II (1990, made in 1992 in DUV Granát), a jewellery set with Czech garnets for the English Queen Elizabeth II (1996), etc. His own jewellery making is also significant, although these original pieces of jewellery and solitary objects from private collections are less well-known to the public. He takes part in numerous local and foreign exhibitions and international symposia in Turnov and abroad.
