Glass sculpture of a men with dress hat
Bohemia, circa 1925-1927, design by Jaroslav Brychta for Artěl, black, yellow and white glass, beads, metal wire, figure of bowing man holding a dress hat, square base, height 11,5 cm; J. Brychta studied at Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design under supervision of J. Drahoňovský a C. Klouček. In 1920-1960 he was a professor at Státní odborná škola sklářská in Železný Brod; he was chair of department of glass figures. Since 1921 he specialized in glass figures both as an author and as a professor. His works can be divided into three periods: 1921-1927 he made figures from beads or from coloured sticks; 1927-1932 he blowed glass figures above burner; and since 1932 he modelled his figures from glowing glass in glassworks.
