“Trinkewitz’s shards of reality, as material for a picture collage, have a cumulative nature. This means that they may create new pictorial unity, but do not attach a new meaning to it, simply serving the beauty of the new constellations of visual elements. They can be taken as free poetry, or as a simile of calligraphy, which the artist encountered as early as 1961, and which has remained his perennial source of inspiration. Such pictures of the world are instrumental for self-reflection, but we can freely project ourselves against each of the shards.” Vlasta Čiháková Noshiro. K. Trinkewitz is a lesser-known proponent of the current trends in the 1960s - lettrism, collage, accumulation and mail art. A contemporary of J. Kolář, who alongside collages devoted himself to poetry and caricatures, lived from the end of the ‘70s in exile in Germany. Lit.: Karel Trinkewitz. Život je koláž. Gallery 1999, comp. p. 11.
