Henrietta Maria of France (1609–1669) was the youngest daughter of King Henry IV of France. During her marriage with Charles I of England she became queen consort of England, Scotland and Ireland. Her dramatic life was lived in the period of English civil wars and she alternately stayed in England and France. There are many portrait paintings of this ruler, the best known created in a number of versions by Anthony Van Dyck.
